Education
Public education in the Troutman/Lake Norman region is provided by Iredell-Statesville Schools. The district operates about 35 campuses, serving an enrollment of roughly 20,000 students. Troutman residents usually attend Troutman Elementary, Troutman Middle School and South Iredell High School. In 2005, the state board of education included Troutman Middle School on its list of the state’s 25 most improved schools.

Recreation
Troutman and Lake Norman are situated in the gentle, wooded terrain of the North Carolina Piedmont. The lake acts as a scenic backdrop as well as a natural playground for residents to enjoy year-round. Popular activities include camping, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming and boating. Lake Norman State Park, located within Troutman, provides access to all of these activities and more. The park features more than 13 miles of Lake Norman shoreline, as well as a smaller, 33-acre lake that’s used for fishing and boating.
There are two main trails, Alder Trail and Lake Shore Trail that wind through the park and along the shoreline.

Other activities in the Charlotte/Lake Norman area include auto racing events, professional football and basketball games, golfing, snow skiing, mountain climbing, skydiving, waterskiing, fine dining, live entertainment and dancing. With less than an hour’s drive, you can find a lifetime of things to see and do; within just 3 hours, you can find yourself walking barefoot along a sandy Atlantic shoreline.

Weather
The weather pattern in Troutman varies from warm, moist summers to brisk winters. June, the rainiest month, sees temperatures ranging between the mid-80s and the low 60s. July is typically the warmest month of the year, when temperatures might stretch up into the 90s. In December and January, temperatures fluctuate between the high 20s and the mid-50s.
